Arts For Social Inclusion:

art27 is a platform for artists, arts educators and arts organizations working with refugees and asylum seekers in Europe and beyond. We take our mission from Article 27 of the Declaration of Human Rights: the right of every person to be freely able to participate in the cultural life of their community.
We are excited to welcome proposals of artistic works in order to further pursue our mission: to support every person’s human right to participate freely in the cultural life of their community.
Successful applicants will receive €3,000.
Additionally, there will also be the possibility of having the work hosted/performed/exhibited by an art27 partner if circumstances allow.
Invitation
We are now inviting applications to commission new collaborative artworks, each co-created by a minimum of 2 artists. Works may combine any art forms, and must be shareable online as well as in-person.
Selection process
An independent selection panel of 3 artists will be invited by art27 to make the final selections.
Artworks
We aim to commission artworks that hold the potential to express new narratives and command new attention; that will captivate people with expressions of human experiences of migration that offer insight and illuminate perspectives. Importantly, we envisage a collection of artworks that express a spectrum of emotions and experiences. Proposals may describe any single artform or work cross-artforms.
Our selection panel will select successful applications based on the following criteria:
– The work features a collaboration between two artists, at least one of whom has lived experience of migration or forcible displacement.
– The subject or topic of the work is open and we welcome all narratives. Special considerations will be given to proposals that foreground non-dominant narratives of displacement, migration, or the refugee experience.
– The work must be shareable online in some capacity, whether through online exhibitions, shareable video or performance content, or any other means.
Collaborations
We are interested in commissioning creative collaborations between artists who have differing experiences of migration and displacement. In line with art27’s mission, special consideration will be given to collaborations that include artists who migrated as refugees.
As a network organization, we welcome applications that include plans for collaboration with organizations that will strengthen the impact of commissions. For example collaborations with festivals, performance venues, production companies or exhibition spaces.
Awards
The selected propositions will each receive €3,000.
We will also work with members of the art27 network to offer public performances, showings, screenings or exhibitions of the selected works.
All artworks created will be presented in an online exhibition hosted on the art27 platform.
